How much does a small business website cost in the UK?
Most UK small businesses spend between about £1,500 and £5,000 on a professionally built website when they work with an agency, according to the cost guides UK agencies published in 2026. Simple starter sites cost far less, and online shops or custom systems cost far more. This guide shows what drives the price and how to compare quotes, so you pay for what your business actually needs.
Typical website costs in the UK in 2026
Published guides from UK web agencies and freelancers give ranges like these. They are guides, not quotes: every project depends on its pages, features and finish.
| Route | Typical one-off cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Do-it-yourself website builder | £0 to £1,000, plus a monthly plan (often £12 to £20) | Very small budgets and owners who enjoy building |
| Freelancer | £2,000 to £6,000 | A bespoke brochure site with one person's attention |
| Web design agency | £5,000 to £10,000 | Larger brand projects with a bigger team |
| Online shop or feature-rich site | £10,000 and up | Stock, payments, customer accounts and integrations |
| Fixed-price starter studio (our packages) | £349 to £1,490 | Small businesses that want a polished, quick site at a fixed cost |
Prices vary widely because the work varies. A focused one-page site and a ten-page site with local pages are different jobs, and either can be exactly right for the business it serves.
What changes the price of a website
- Number of pages. Every page needs design, writing and testing. A launch page is one job, a growth site is ten.
- Who writes the words. Copywriting is a real part of the work. Some quotes include it and some leave it to you.
- Design level. A clean, premium design built on proven layouts costs less than a fully bespoke visual identity.
- Features. Enquiry forms are simple. Online booking, payments, member areas and shops add time and ongoing costs.
- Search set-up. Page titles, descriptions, structured data, a sitemap and Google Search Console are part of a good build, but not every quote includes them.
- Speed of delivery. Rush timelines usually cost more than a normal schedule.
- Photos and content. Professional photography or video is extra. Your own clear phone photos are a good place to start.
The costs people forget
The build is not the only cost. Ask about these before you say yes:
- Domain name: typically £10 to £15 a year for a .co.uk or .com.
- Hosting: a few pounds a month for a small site, or included in some packages.
- Business email: often a small monthly fee per mailbox.
- Updates and care: changes to text, prices and photos. Some owners make these themselves, others pay a monthly care plan.
- Ad spend: if you run Google or Meta ads, the budget goes to the platform on top of any management fee.
- Extra tools: booking systems, payment providers and email platforms can have their own fees.
How to compare website quotes
- List what is included: pages, copywriting, revisions, mobile design, speed, search set-up, hosting set-up and training.
- Check who owns the site. You should own the files, the domain and the content once you have paid.
- Ask for a fixed price and a delivery date in writing.
- Ask to see a preview of your design before you commit to the final payment.
- Ask what happens after launch: who makes changes, how quickly, and what it costs.
- Compare like with like. A quote that includes writing and search set-up is a different job from one that does not.
How we price websites at Eagle Digital Services
We use three fixed prices, so you know the cost before you start:
- Launch Page, £349 one-off. One polished page that does one job brilliantly. Includes: 1 premium, mobile-first page; enquiry form, click-to-call and WhatsApp; search-ready titles, description and schema; live in about 5 working days.
- Business Site, £899 one-off. Everything a growing business needs online. Includes: 5 pages with copy written for you; local search structure and schema; google Search Console set up; live in about 10 working days.
- Growth Site, £1,490 one-off. A page for every service you sell. Includes: up to 10 pages with local content; google Profile Pack included; 3 rounds of refinements; live in about 15 working days.
Websites are paid in two parts: half to start and half when you approve the work, before it goes live. Once the final payment is received, the website files, domain and content belong to you. Hosting set-up is included, so you only pay for your domain name, typically £10 to £15 a year. If you would like us to look after updates, a care plan is £29 a month.

Is a cheaper website a worse website?
Not necessarily. A smaller scope costs less, and a focused site that loads fast, looks professional and makes it easy to enquire can do the job for many local businesses. Price and quality part ways in what is left out: no search set-up, no help with the writing, no ownership of your files, or no support after launch. That is why comparing what is included matters more than comparing the headline price.
A simple way to decide how big your site should be
- Just starting, or one main service? A single strong page is a sensible first step.
- Several services? A five-page site gives each one its own page, and each page can be found on its own in Google.
- Many services and areas? A larger site with a page for each helps customers and search engines find the right one.
- Selling products online? Ask for a quote built around an online shop.
Website cost questions
How much should a small business pay for a website in the UK?
Published 2026 guides from UK agencies put a professionally built small business site at roughly £1,500 to £5,000, while starter packages cost much less. The right amount depends on the pages and features you need. Our fixed prices run from £349 to £1,490.
Is a monthly fee normal for a website?
Domain and hosting are normally paid yearly or monthly, and some providers add a care plan for updates and monitoring. Ask for every recurring cost in writing before you start. With us you pay for your domain name, and a care plan is optional.
How long does a website take to build?
From a few days for a single page to several weeks for a larger site. Ours take about 5 to 15 working days once we have your details.
Does the price include search engine optimisation?
A good build includes search set-up such as page titles, descriptions, structured data and a sitemap. Ongoing local SEO, such as Google Business Profile management and monthly updates, is a separate service, and we'll do our best to help the right customers find you.
Do I own my website?
You should. Make sure every quote says you own the files, the domain and the content once you have paid. With us, they are yours once the final payment is received.
